Behind the scenes at The Wee SS17 Photoshoot by Clare Weston•
Posted on March 19 2017
I was very honoured to be invited to document the photoshoot of The Wee Department Store last week with brands Hello Simone, Indikidual, Papu, Gray Label, Kidscase, Love My Smalls, Normadot, A Little Lovely Company and Meri Meri. The Wee Department girls, Lucie and Charlie, chose little ones Ana, Raif, Meta and Varek to model the spring/summer 17 stock.
We all congregated at Vivienne Harris’s house in Brighton, her home was the ideal setting surrounded by her collectables, quirky style and unique furnishings.
Vivienne, a mum of three beautiful girls has worked in the fashion industry for 15 years as a fashion stylist in both adult and childrenswear and has previously worked with the Wee Store to produce timelessly styled photoshoots. Viv loves to create beautiful imagery with location and concept ideas to prop sourcing and styling for editorials, advertising and lookbooks. After spending the day at her beautiful Sussex home it’s no wonder that Viv also offers interior design and style advice plus she is a trained upholsterer. I could have explored her house all day looking at the paintings, furniture, the wallpaper and distinctive items dotted around her home.

Clare Keylock is also a member of the Wee club with her food related blog contributions and previous Wee photoshoots. Clare is a children’s photographer, blogger and a friend of the Wee girls. Clare has 4 children and loves to capture natural moments of kids playing and having fun. Clare specialises in family portraits, children, newborn and food. I watched Clare take photos and she had a very calming air about her which is exactly what you need with children. Clare let them play and get used to being in front of the camera as she effortlessly snapped away and captured that distinctive childhood essence.

With stylist and photographer in place our four beautiful models were dressed in their outfits and the shoot began. With amazing styles and unique props the shoot emphasised easy versatile dressing with the added carefree spirit of each of the tiny models.
The Wee Store have carefully selected styles to sell which offer comfortable dressing, colourful simple designs all of which are of high quality materials. Key items included the Papu patched leggings which are great for unisex dressing and the Hello Simone nautical romper which Meta modelled so effortlessly with her natural curls. All us adults were swooning over this style.
Classic Gray Label rompers and salopettes were teamed with wavy striped tees from Kidscase and super soft merino vests from Love My Smalls. My personal favourite A Little Lovely Company's neon cloud light and the Normadot bunnies make appearances amongst Viv’s beautiful ‘in house’ props including cactus plants, painted backdrops and an array of mini woven chairs.
It was an honour working alongside these inspiring and creative women with the infectious charm of the four little ones.
The final photos coming soon…..
